About

Who Am I?

I’m Simon, a Techie, Gamer, Engineer, Coffee and Cloud enthusiast. I’ve been working in the Cloud since 2021 and previously worked in the On-Premises world since 2013. I’m passionate about sharing my experiences and knowledge with others and this blog is my way of doing that. I hope you find the content useful and enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

My Journey

During my current career, I started back in 2013 working with-in the Education sector, Initially as a volunteer and then progressed to Full time On-Site Support Technician for a two stage primary school. From there I moved into the Managed Services sector and went from supporting a single school to supporting multiple schools across West Yorkshire. From there I moved into the private sector tried my hand at some pre-sales opportunities and then moved into a more technical role as a Technical Consultant.

Following on from the Managed Services role, I then moved around a little for the next two years trying out different roles and gaining experience in different areas. I did a stint with CDW as a Technical Consultant and then went to help a college in Warwickshire fast track there Windows 7 to Windows 10 Migration. This was in short 9 months of Caffeine, PowerShell, MDT and Image Building and was a super fun project to be a part of.

After this, I moved back to West Yorkshire and was a second line engineer working for an local MSP and then in September 2021 I moved into the Cloud and have been working with Azure ever since.

What I Do

During the working week, I’m helping Intercept build and support Azure Clouds, Out of hours you can find me playing gaming, learning, labbing, coding, blogging and drinking coffee and when I need a break from all the technical stuff I like to go out for walks and take photos. You can see some of them technical adventures on my Instagram and when not posting on Instagram you can find me on Twitter and Flickr.

Why This Blog/Website?

I’ve been blogging since 2017 and have had a few different blogs over the years. I started out with a blog called HypervLAB which covered mainly the on-premises life from Hyper-V to Windows Server to Linux to Zabbix to deploying and configures Virtual Machines and other services such as Teamspeak. But as I’m now an Azure Consultant, some support friends suggested that it might be time to re-brand and move to the cloud and more specially use cloud based services thus this blog was born.
